My original goal of this course was to gain a deeper insight into digital marketing and search engine optimization (SEO). Prior to the start of the course, I had hired a number of specialists to do seo on my website with varying levels of success. I had previously thought seo required a special level of coding to be successfully deployed. It was a pleasure to find out how simple and effective seo can be. It is a different language for sure, and is not what one may naturally think about when building a website. In today's landscape and post covid, effective seo and digital marketing can literally be the difference between a dying or thriving business. While I know the class can only scratch the surface of seo, I feel more prepared and armed with terminology and the understanding of what's involved in the process of doing things effectively. I have already started to audit my website and have immediately included some long tail phrases to my google ad’s account. I have also started to optimize a number of products we sell on our merchandise site. Alt text with the inclusion of keywords has been added to the images used in the website and the title. These were things that I was able to navigate on my own with confidence after this month's class. Analyzing effective marketing is also something I find myself doing more often now. Realizing you have to have a differentiating voice depending on your audience has been a huge takeaway. Understanding how to effectively communicate in marketing is why some can make a career being the voice of a brand. I really would have liked to have a much deeper dive into seo for my own personal benefit and implantation. I will be staying in contact with Dan even after the class is complete.
